Parent Warning: TikTok Challenge Won't Be Tolerated
September 30, 2021
Dear Kingsway Staff and Families:
A new and disturbing TikTok challenge dubbed the “Devious Lick” trend, “Dastardly Licks,” or “Diabolical Licks,” aimed at school-aged children, has come to the attention of school administrators and I want to be sure our school community is informed. This latest social media challenge encourages students to share videos of themselves stealing, damaging, or flaunting items they steal from school. The term “lick,” in context of this challenge, is defined as a “successful type of theft which results in acceptable, impressive and a rewarding payday for the protagonist.”
The challenges are dangerous, destructive, and in some cases, criminal in nature and change with each passing month, beginning with vandalizing school bathrooms to smacking teachers to touching others inappropriately and more. This encouragement and promotion of violence, thievery and sexual harassment is abhorrent and will not be tolerated at Kingsway.
TikTok School Challenges List Revealed

We are proactively sharing this information with our Kingsway families in hopes that you will take time to engage your children in important conversations about these destructive challenges and the potential for serious consequences. It is important that our students understand such behaviors will never be tolerated and that we will do our part to clearly communicate that any act of violence, vandalism, thievery, and/or sexual harassment will have immediate and potentially long-term consequences.
We appreciate your assistance in reinforcing the seriousness of this message and are hopeful that you will unite with school officials to prevent our students, your children, from subjecting themselves to this abhorrent behavior. I sincerely thank you in advance for all you can do to keep our students safe and held to Kingsway’s high standard of respect and conduct.
