POOLE & WILKINS JOIN FAULK
AS QUALIFIES FOR NJDFL STATE FINALS

The KRHS NJ Drama & Forensics League team traveled to Eastern High School on February 2nd to compete in its second tournament of 2019. Seven schools participated in an exciting day of Dramatic and Public Speaking competitions.

The NJDFL’s mission is to foster a competitive and creative outlet for High School Theater and Forensic students, while providing a forum for competition and constructive feedback as well as encouraging growth and development in the theatre/speech arenas.

Kingsway’s team of 21 competed in the theater and speaking events of Dramatic Monologue, Comedy Pairs, Persuasive Speaking, Dramatic Oral Interpretation, Improvisational pairs, Humor Oral Interpretation, Impromptu speaking Reader’s Theatre, Musical Pairs, Dramatic Pairs, Comedy Monologue, and After Dinner Speaking.

Already a State qualifier, senior Mia Faulk again placed third with another moving performance in Dramatic Monologue as the character of Rose from August Wilson’s play, Fences.

Joining Ms. Faulk at States, will be junior Kali Poole, who qualified for her first State Final in the category of Dramatic Oral Interpretation. “Placing at an NJDFL competition has been one of my biggest goals since my freshmen year, and I’m so grateful that today I got to achieve it,” said Ms. Poole. “It was an honor receiving such high scores and ranks while competing against such incredibly talented people from all across the state. I cannot wait to compete at States.”

Sophomore Liam Wilkins became another first time State qualifier, also in Dramatic Oral Interpretation. “It was a great experience to be able to get into finals,” said Mr. Wilkins. “I was honestly shocked despite the fact that I was confident in this piece. Overall, I just had a lot of fun.”

Kingsway’s NJDFL team travels to Mainland HS on February 9th with the goal to add to its qualifiers for the State tourney in February at Raritan High School.
