Studyhall Guidelines

  1. Students should ALWAYS report to study hall before coming to the Media Center! Study Hall teachers are responsible for recording attendance.

  1. Please hold all students in Study Hall for the first 5 minutes of the period.

  2. Every Monday you will receive an email indicating the number of students that can come to each Media Center each period. These numbers may change as classes are added to and deleted from the library schedule. Please check for updates each day.

  3. The limits of 10, 5, 3 or C (closed) students are based on the number of study halls and HyFlex classes as well as whether anyone has reserved the space on the Room Reservation link each period.

  4. Always provide a green Study Hall Pass listing the first and last names of EVERY student you are sending, your name, and the period. Be sure to indicate if the students on that pass are going to the media center or student center!

  1. When students come to the media centers from study hall, they are required to stay until the end of the period.

  2. About 10 minutes after sending your students, please check that they have actually signed in on Genesis Turnstile.

  1. Our goal is to avoid limiting student access to the Media Centers as much as possible. Please call one of us if you have extra students who want to come, and we will try to accommodate!

  2. We love when study hall students visit one of our Media Centers! Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, we occasionally need to close to study hall students. We will try to inform you and the students of these instances in a timely manner.

  1. Students who are on Restricted Hall Pass have lost their privilege to come to the Media Center during study hall. They are to remain in their study hall classroom.

 Student Expectations:

  1. Arrive together with ALL of the students listed on the GREEN study hall pass. Do not stop at the restroom, nurse, locker or any other location on your way to the Media Center.

  2. Scan your ID or Sign in on the Genesis Turnstile.

  3. Remain in the Media Center until the end of the class period.

  4. Ask to use the Media Center Hall Pass if you need to leave the Media Center for any reason.

  5. Be respectful of others using the Media Center.

A quick note about behavior expectations in our Media Centers:

When students come to the media center from study hall, they often have a little more freedom to move around, talk, and use our resources. Students have access to office and art supplies, computers for printing and getting work done. We also provide puzzles and quiet games for students who don’t have pressing homework or assignments to work on.

Since we can only accommodate a limited number of students each period, please encourage your study hall students to see that coming to the Media Center from study hall is a privilege!

In an effort to ensure that all students are using our media centers in a respectful and productive way, there may be times throughout the year when a certain student needs to take a “break” from coming to the media centers during study hall. When this happens, we will communicate with the study hall teachers so we can work together to encourage appropriate behavior.

Thank you for helping us to create an environment that supports learning and encourages students to see themselves as part of a vibrant and supportive learning community!
