NJSLA-A, NJSLA-S, and NJGPA

The New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) and New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) are required state and federal tests that measure how well students are meeting New Jersey Student Learning Standards and progressing toward college and career readiness.

Required Assessments by Grade Level

• English Language Arts & Mathematics: Grades 3–9 (Federal Requirement)
• Science (NJSLA-S): Grades 5, 8, and 11 (Federal Requirement)
• NJ Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA): Grade 11 (State Graduation Requirement)

1. A passing NJGPA score
2. Approved substitute assessments (SAT, ACT, Accuplacer, etc.) or New Jersey Portfolio Appeal Process only after having attempted the NJGPA
