• In keeping with our district vision of preparing students for college and career, Kingsway continues to raise expectations as we believe all students can achieve at high levels. As part of this philosophy, we administer the PSAT to all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students.

Similar to the redesign of the SAT, College Board has redesigned the entire SAT Suite of Assessments to include a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test. The redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments — SAT (grades 11 and 12), PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 10 (grades 11 and 10, respectively), and PSAT 9 (ninth grade) — measure a student’s college and career readiness from the ninth through 12th grades.

These assessments provide a comprehensive solution that systematically and progressively measures the knowledge, skills, and understandings that are essential for success in college and career readiness. The tests reflect the kinds of meaningful, engaging, and challenging work that students find in the best courses of study taught today, creating and sustaining a durable bond between assessment and instruction that provides the backbone of a sound education.

The PSAT 10 and PSAT/NMSQT (administered in the fall of the tenth and eleventh grade year, respectively) is designed to measure the skills and knowledge that current research shows are essential for college and career readiness. Both the PSAT 10 and PSAT/NMSQT serve as a “check-in” on student progress to help pinpoint areas for development.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). As a result of completing the NMSQT, students may qualify for a variety of scholarships.
